Sunset at Young Ralph Cross
Young Ralph Cross stands by the road across the North York Moors at Blakey Ridge. Tradition says that the original Cross was erected here by a local farmer, called Ralph, in memorial to a man who was found exhausted and dying at this spot. There has reputedly been a marker here since c.AD 1,200 - but the current cross probably dates from the 18th Century. The smaller Old Ralph Cross is also nearby - though cannot be seen from the road.
